A writing workshop is a great way to hone that short story or polish that first chapter of your novel. This weekend will be a delightful and fun exploration of creative writing, as the group, under the direction of Mark Frutkin (author of fifteen books), will examine your submitted short stories and discuss writing in general, including inspiration, plot, character, the writing and editing process, and publishing.
The workshop will include writing exercises to help get those creative juices flowing, much conversation about good writing, and personal meetings to discuss your work with the author-in-residence.
The workshop is open to writers at all levels. Limit of 10 participants. Participants are expected to submit one piece of creative writing, about 10 pages in length.
The retreat is located in a quiet valley at the base of the Laurentian hills, with lake and trails,
45 minutes north of Ottawa, ON/Hull, QC.

General Info on Workshops
Retreat sessions and workshops are held in our homestead house. But if you wish to remain for a longer retreat, or get away on your own, rooms are available on an ongoing basis in the bungalow opposite our homestead house - please see Facilities link for info and photos of this facility.
Our 400 acre site offers forests and wide open spaces, with a lake nearby, swimming and canoeing, and hiking trails - including a 45 min. hike up a nearby mountain, one of the highest in Québec. Please click on Location for description and photos of our retreat area overall.
